Sodwana Bay, meaning ‘little one on its own’ in Zulu, is located on the Elephant Coast of KwaZulu Natal in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.  This area is a World Heritage Site which is managed by the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority, an independent organisation.  This was formed to protect the area stretching about 150km from the Mozambique border to Cape Vidal and 3 nautical miles out to sea.

Visitors are to note Sodwana Bay is in a malaria area and special precautions are necessary.  Stock up on any essentials as the nearest town is Hluhluwe, 80kms away.

A beautiful and unspoilt gem Sodwana Bay is classified as one of the top 10 dive sites in the world.  With an approximate 50km of complex coral reef structures Sodwana Bay has over 1 000 fish species living here.  During certain times of the year whales, dolphins and whale sharks can be spotted.  In summer there are Turtle Tours which allows visitors to view the Loggerhead and Leatherback Turtles as they emerge from the ocean and slowly walk up the beach to nest.
